ZXL300, 300W Xenon Arc LampThe 300 watt Xenon lamp with a 0.7 x 2.4 mm effective arc size operates with the anode at the top. Xenon Lamp is filled with purified xenon at 5-20 bar. The pressure triples during operation. The small intense arcs radiate like 5500-6000 K full radiators with some xenon lines superimposed. The xenon lines dominate between 750 and 1000 nm, but the spectrum is almost featureless through the ultraviolet and visible.

Because of its sun-like spectrum, the xenon lamp is used for solar simulation. Ultraviolet radiation below 242 nm produces toxic ozone. UV wavelength emissions below ~260 nm create toxic ozone. Ideally, an arc lamp is operated outdoors or in a room with adequate ventilation to protect the user from ozone created. If this is not possible, an Ozone Eater should be used. However, if the application does not require wavelength emission below ~260 nm from the arc lamp, using an ozone free lamp is a convenient option.
